Medical Exercise Associates - Michael N. Futlon M.D. • Brent N. Fulton M.D.

History

When Dr. Michael Fulton first became involved in orthopedic rehabilitation in the 1970's, the medical profession was strongly inclined toward surgery as the best treatment for spinal pain and injuries. But Dr. Fulton wasn’t so sure. After years of study and research, he concluded that if an appropriate program for strengthening muscle tissue were developed, orthopedic rehabilitation could be successful without the need for surgery.

That’s when he first became involved with Nautilus, the company that introduced the concept of selectorized strength equipment. Dr. Fulton and Arthur Jones, the founder of Nautilus, opened a strength training and sport clinic in Lake Helen, Florida, to treat athletes in the area of orthopedic rehabilitation.

Since the early 1980’s, Dr. Fulton has specialized in strength training exercises to help athletes and non-athletes deal with spinal pain. During this time, he has built one of the largest databases in the world dealing with strength training for the spine. He has also traveled the world to implement programs and offer training, and his name has become synonymous with medical expertise for spinal rehabilitation.

Today, as the founder and president of one of the largest, most specialized spinal treatment centers in the southeast, Dr. Fulton leads a team of experienced and highly trained exercise specialists at the beautiful Green Acres sports medicine center. Here, both athletes and non-athletes find relief from discomfort and empowering fitness programs to treat:

•Spinal pain
•Osteoporosis
•Low fitness levels
•Sarcopeniah

Though he is fully certified as an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Fulton’s successful rehabilitation approach has been non-surgical for nearly two decades
